DIAMOND MEDAL Fountain Pen

In WOODGRAIN with gold filled trim.  Medium cap band. Made in USA c1929.

The DIAMOND MEDAL pens were produced for the Sears Roebuck store chain by the National Pen Products Co of Chicago Illinois. Sears had several pen brands and the DIAMOND MEDAL was the top of their range. Their middle range pens were the WEBSTER and lower end GOOD SERVICE.

Our pen is believed to be the STANDARD model and is the largest of the Diamond Medal pens produced and very much an oversize model. Measures 138mm (5 3/8") capped and 175mm (6 3/4") with the cap posted. Lovely 'chunky' shape.

Crisp barrel imprint 'Diamond Medal Pen Co Chicago ILL.'

I think the top of the cap would have had a medallion which is missing. It has been replaced (rather ingeniously by me!) with a gold plated roundell which suits the pen. This is actually a 12mm drawing pin! The hole was already in the cap and the pin has been attached just by Blu-tack so can easily be removed in the very unlikely event that you either have an original medallion or something else that looks better! I think it looks really good.

14ct Gold nib stamped 'Warranted 14K 8.'  '8' is the correct number for this model of Diamond Medal so the nib may well be original. FINE side of MEDIUM nib - very flexible - allows you to write with a flourish. Unusual notched feed. Very large nib which weighs 0.7gms.

Lever filler - fully serviced - new sac - write tested - perfect working order.

Pen is in excellent used condition. Light normal surface usage marks only.

Even allowing for the issue with the medallion this is still a fabulous looking pen. Quite rare and very collectable.

Hope it will find a good new home but will be very sorry to see it go.
