D & D MÉTÉORE c1923 La Plume d'Or

Product Information

D & D La Plume d'Or MÉTÉORE Fountain Pen

A LITTLE BACKGROUND HISTORY - La Plume d'Or was founded in 1921 by Demilly & Degan (D & D) of Paris. La Plume d'Or commenced its Météore fountain pen range in 1922 with eyedropper and safety pens in black or marbled hard rubber. The lever filler Météore fountain pens were added to the range in 1923.

The rare pen we have for sale here is, I believe, the smaller of the lever filler models.

MÉTÉORE Lever filler - Made in Paris - c1923 - MARBLED HARD RUBBER - measures 115mm closed.

Flat top with band at the top which was originally white but has darkened. Ornate acommodation pocket clip is correct and original. Please see for additional pictures of pens in the range at the time.

Filling lever with clover shaped end and 'Météore' imprint. Barrel imprint difficult to read but D & D can be made out.

Correct 18ct Gold nib stamped 'D & D Paris 18cts' Flexible medium nib which writes ok but has obviously had much use.

Pen has been dismantled and cleaned by hand with remains of old sac removed. Just needs a new sac fitted to be fully operational and we are happy to do that if the new owner requires.

Pen is correct in all respects and in excellent condition - no cracks or splits.

Rare pen and a gem of a collector's item.

At the moment we also have an example of the D & D Safety Pen for sale - please see SN5084.
