Product Information

B.S.P. Co. Fountain Pen   PISTON FILL

B.S.P Co is the Bimingham Stainless Pen Company Ltd which operated in the Birmingham area from sometime in the 19th century to as late as the 1950s. They specialised in the production of steel nibs for the many pen manufacturers in the Birmingham area and also sold nibs thoughout the world. The Triumph nib was one of their main brands and their slogan 'any type nib made to customer's requirements.'

Our piston filler has the BSP nib but there is no clue as to the maker of the pen. No imprints at all that I can see.

In solid Black with gold plated trim - single cap band - lovely curved pocket clip with diamond end. Matching cap stud and blind cap.

Measures 127mm capped (5") and I would think manufactured in England in the 1930s.

Plated steel nib stamped 'Stainless Triumph No 343 B.S.P.Co B'HAM.' Nib in excellent condition- firm FINE SIDE of MEDIUM. Very smooth writer.

Piston filler - remove the blind cap at the barrel end and turn the knob to operate the piston.

Pen fills properly and is in perfect working order.

Normal surface usage marks. Minor pitting to pocket clip. A really nice looking 'chunky' pen and certainly one that you don't see very often. The only other fountain pen I could find with a BSP nib was in New Zealand.

Steve Hull's invaluable book The English Fountain Pen Industry 1875-1975 was virtually the only reference I could find to the BSP Co

This led me to the Birmingham Pen Museum which is certainly worth a visit.
